Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the Storklers platform (the “Service”). It applies to users wherever they are located, subject to special disclosures for certain regions below.
If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the Service.
1. Scope and relationship to other documents
This Policy supplements our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms used here may match the Terms.
2. Information we collect
We organize personal information into categories for clarity.
2.1 Account and identity verification
Depending on features you use and legal requirements, we or our vendors may process:
- Full legal name, date of birth
- Government-issued identification numbers or document images (for example passport, national ID, driver license, CNIC, as applicable)
- Biometric information used for identity verification (for example selfie / facial “liveness” checks performed by our verification vendors)
- Verification outcomes and fraud signals returned by vendors
We do not intend for raw government ID images or biometric templates to be displayed to other users for browsing.
2.2 Profile and marketplace activity
Information you provide or generate through features, such as:
- Profile fields visible under your privacy settings
- Listing details related to trips/requests
- Photos related to items, packaging, open-box verification, and receipt images when required or uploaded
- Delivery preferences (for example packaging selections shown in the app)
2.3 Communications
- In-app messages and related metadata needed to operate messaging (for example timestamps, delivery/read receipts if enabled, attachments policy per Terms)
2.4 Payments
When you pay Platform Fees (and any future paid features), payment information is handled by payment processors (for example Stripe). We typically receive limited payment information (such as partial card details, payment status, transaction IDs), while card numbers are processed by the processor under its terms.
2.5 Information from third parties
We may receive verification results from identity vendors and fraud-prevention signals from service providers.
3. How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, secure, and improve the Service
- Create and maintain accounts and authenticate users
- Perform identity verification / KYC and fraud prevention where applicable
- Enable listings, matching features, and messaging as described in the Service
- Process payments and maintain billing records
- Enforce our Terms, investigate misuse, and protect users and the platform
- Comply with legal obligations (including lawful requests, sanctions screening where applicable, and anti-fraud expectations)
- Communicate service notices and (where permitted) marketing—see Section 10
We do not sell your personal information for money as “sale” is defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws (if we ever engage in activities that constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under those laws, we will update this Policy and provide choices as required).
4. Legal bases
Depending on where you live, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract: processing needed to provide the Service you request
- Legitimate interests: operating a secure marketplace, fraud prevention, network security, product improvement (balanced against your rights)
- Legal obligation: compliance with law enforcement requests when valid, financial compliance obligations, and regulatory requirements
- Consent: where required for certain processing (for example sensitive information where applicable, certain cookies if used, certain biometric processing in specific jurisdictions)
5. How we share personal information
We may share personal information with:
5.1 Service providers / processors
Vendors that help us run the Service under contractual safeguards, including:
- Identity verification providers (for example Sumsub, Onfido, or substitutes)
- Payment processors (for example Stripe)
- Cloud hosting, analytics (if used), customer support tools, email delivery, security monitoring
5.2 Legal and safety
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is necessary to:
- comply with applicable law, lawful requests, or court orders
- enforce our Terms
- detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues
- protect the rights, property, or safety of Avolox, users, or the public
5.3 Business transfers
If we engage in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
5.4 Other users
The Service may display limited profile details to other users per product settings. Government ID numbers, biometric data, and sensitive verification artifacts are not intended to be shown on public marketplace profiles except as required by feature design and law.
6. International data transfers
Avolox is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information may be processed in the US and other countries where we or vendors operate. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms).
7. Biometrics and sensitive information
Where biometric verification is used, processing may be performed by verification vendors under their policies and technical controls. Depending on your jurisdiction, biometric information may be treated as sensitive personal information subject to additional rights or consent requirements.
8. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children in a way that encourages use without appropriate parental involvement where required by law.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child provided personal information improperly, contact hello@storklers.com. If we learn we collected personal information from a child in violation of applicable rules (such as COPPA where it applies), we will take steps to delete it as required.
Important: Certain identity verification flows may not be available or appropriate for minors due to vendor rules or legal restrictions. Avolox may restrict accounts or features where verification cannot be completed lawfully.
9. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including:
- Account records while your account is active
- Verification artifacts as required for fraud prevention, regulatory expectations, and dispute handling
- Messaging content for the period needed for safety, legal compliance, and service functionality, as described in the Service and our operational policies
- Transactional records as required for tax, accounting, and payment partner obligations
After deletion requests, some information may be retained as required by law (for example AML recordkeeping obligations, where applicable) or in backups for a limited period before overwrite.
10. Marketing communications
We may send transactional messages (security, receipts, policy updates). If we send promotional messages where permitted, you may opt out using the unsubscribe link in those emails or in-app notification and marketing settings when we make them available.
11. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest where appropriate. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, and others as laws evolve), you may have rights to:
- access personal information
- correct inaccuracies
- delete personal information (subject to exceptions)
- obtain a portable copy (where applicable)
- opt out of certain processing (including targeted advertising, sale/sharing, or profiling in some states)
How to submit requests: Email hello@storklers.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests.
You may also use an authorized agent where permitted by law.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
13. Additional disclosures for California residents
If California law applies:
- Categories collected/disclosed are described throughout this Policy
- We disclose identifiers, verification data, commercial information (transactions), and other categories reflected above
Sensitive personal information: We limit use of sensitive personal information (including certain government IDs and biometrics when classified as sensitive) to permitted purposes.
Retention: Not indefinite; described in Section 9.
14. Additional disclosures for European Economic Area / UK users
If you are in the EEA/UK, you may have GDPR/UK GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and complaints to a supervisory authority). Our lawful bases are described in Section 4. You may contact hello@storklers.com. If we rely on consent, you may withdraw consent without affecting prior lawful processing.
15. Law enforcement and governmental requests
We may respond to lawful requests from competent authorities. Requests must comply with applicable legal process. Users outside the US remain subject to local laws governing customs and telecommunications where applicable.
16. Cookies and similar technologies
Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the site (for example session or security cookies) or that we use subject to applicable consent requirements where required. Our mobile app may use similar technologies (for example device identifiers or SDKs) as needed for authentication, analytics, fraud prevention, or advertising, consistent with this Policy and platform rules. If we add non-essential web trackers, we will describe them here or in a separate cookie notice and obtain consent where required.
17. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. We will post the updated Policy and revise the “Last updated” date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
